1. What is it for?

The module handles the electronic management of the LED front headlight:

• Regulates the voltage and current sent to the LED diodes (low beam, high beam, DRL/parking lights and direction indicators).

• Communicates with the car's network (canbus) to diagnose errors and manage advanced lighting functions.

2. On which cars is it installed?

It is fitted as standard on several recent models (mainly from 2021/2022 onwards) equipped with full LED headlights:

• Ford Ranger (T9 / Raptor) (from 2022 onwards)

• Ford Kuga MK3 / Escape

• Ford Bronco / Bronco Sport (versions with Signature LED headlights)

• Ford F-150 / F-250 / F-350 Super Duty

• Volkswagen Amarok II / NF (from 2023 onwards, born from the platform shared with the Ford Ranger)

3. Why does it need to be replaced?

The main reasons that require the replacement of this module are:

• Water infiltration or condensation: This is the most common cause. Since it's located on the headlight body, moisture or cracks in the lens can cause short circuits on the circuit board.

• LED Malfunction: If a section of the headlight (e.g. parking light/DRL or low beam) stops working or flickers, the problem is often not the LED itself but the control unit that is not powering it properly.

• Instrument cluster errors: Lighting system fault messages or CANBus communication errors related to the headlight.

• Power Surge / Electronic Failure: Wear or current spikes that burn out the driver module's internal transistors/MOSFETs.
