Where is the H2 bulb installed?

Unlike the standard bulbs found in the headlights of most modern cars, the H2 has a very compact design and lacks a circular or flanged base. It's recognizable by its metal "sheet" shape with the socket directly on the bulb body.

It is usually found in these locations:

• Fog lights: This is the most common use, especially on sports cars or European models from the 80s and 90s.
• Additional high beam headlights: Often fitted to off-road vehicles or rally cars (such as the famous Cibié or Hella headlights).
• Classic cars: Many icons of the past (such as some versions of the Peugeot 205 or BMW models) use H2s in their headlights.

Why switch to LED?

Replacing an old halogen H2 with an LED version offers several practical advantages:

• Superior visibility: The LED produces a pure white light (around 6000K), very similar to daylight, which is less tiring on the eyes and makes road contrasts much clearer.
• Energy efficiency: LED bulbs consume approximately 70-80% less energy than halogen bulbs. This reduces the load on the car's electrical system, an important factor if you own a classic car.
• Infinite Lifespan: While a halogen H2 lasts an average of 400-600 hours, a quality LED can exceed 30,000 hours, eliminating the hassle of having to change them frequently.
• Instant On: LEDs reach full brightness instantly, which is essential for high beam headlights when you need to signal or illuminate a sudden obstacle.

Things to consider (Caution!)

Before proceeding with the purchase, keep these two critical points in mind:

Space: Halogen H2 bulbs are very small. LED versions often have a heat sink on the back or a small fan. Check the space available inside the headlight, as the cover may not close.
