The H7R version, so called, is generally used in reflector-parabola headlamps, i.e. with clear functional glass rather than fluted; the bulb carries a dark band, as shown in the photograph, near the ignition to avoid a dazzle effect.

However, this H7R lamp version is rarely used and is an adaptation to prevent glare in all directions.
