The H7R version, so called, is generally used in reflector-parabola headlamps, i.e. with clear functional glass rather than a fluted lens; in fact the bulb carries a dark band, as shown in the photograph, near the ignition to avoid dazzling.

However, this H7R lamp version is seldom used and is an adaptation to prevent glare in all directions.
