The H7R version, so named, is typically used in parabolic reflector headlamps, that is with clear function glass rather than fluted glass; in fact the bulb bears a dark band, as shown in the photograph, near the ignition to prevent dazzling.

This H7R lamp version, however, is seldom used and is an adaptation intended to avoid glare in all directions.
