The H7R version, so called, is generally used in reflector parabola headlamps, that is with clear functional glass rather than fluted; in fact the bulb has a dark band, as shown in the photograph, near the ignition to prevent dazzle.

This H7R lamp version, however, is little used and is an adaptation intended to avoid glare in all directions.
