What is it for?

This control unit is mounted directly behind or under the headlight unit. Its main function is:

• Manage and power the headlight LEDs: Regulate the electrical current to the light-emitting diodes, avoiding voltage surges that could burn them out.

• Control daytime running lights (DRL): Manages the switching on, intensity and functions of the integrated position lights or indicators (if LED).

• Canbus Interface: Communicates with the car's on-board computer to prevent "burnt light" errors from appearing on the dashboard.

Typical workshop note: This control unit often stops working due to water or humidity infiltration inside the headlight, which creates a short circuit on the electronic board.

Which cars is it installed on?

This specific code is mainly used by the Nissan/Infiniti group (since their headlights use Koito components). It is mainly installed on:

• Infiniti Q50 * Nissan Qashqai II (J11 series, approximately 2014 onwards)

• Nissan X-Trail III (T32 series, 2014 onwards)

If you need to replace it, since it is a Plug & Play component, you usually just need to unscrew the fixing screws, disconnect the plug and insert the new control unit without the need for any software programming or coding in the workshop.
