Why does it need to be replaced?

There are three main reasons why this component stops working and requires replacement:

  1. LED Overheating and Degradation: Even though there is thermal control, over the years and hours of use the main LED chip degrades due to continuous thermal stress, until it burns out completely or drastically loses brightness.

  2. Moisture or condensation infiltrations: Since it is mounted inside the light unit, if the headlight suffers micro-cracks or infiltrations, the humidity creates oxidation on the copper tracks or short-circuits the miniaturized components (such as the capacitor C1 or the resistors).

  3. Yellowing of the light or data line failure: Sometimes the LED chip continues to emit light but "bakes" the lens or emits a faded/yellowish hue. In other cases, if the NTC or communication line fails, the car's control unit preemptively turns off the headlight for safety, signaling the error on the instrument panel.
