The K8D2-13E005-AC control unit (often also abbreviated K8D213E005AC or produced by Automotive Lighting / Valeo) is a control module/ballast for Full LED and Full Matrix LED headlights .

Main function:

It manages the power supply, voltage regulation and driving of the LED diodes of the optical group. In particular, check:

  • Daytime running lights (DRL) and position lights.

  • The LED direction indicators (arrows).

  • The LED low beam and high beam (including dynamic matrix management if present on the headlight).

The control unit is an original component mounted on the light clusters of the Jaguar - Land Rover (JLR) range from approximately 2018 onwards:

  • Range Rover Evoque (second generation - L551, approximately 2019 onwards)

  • Range Rover Velar

  • Range Rover Sport / Range Rover Vogue (2018–2022 facelift models)

  • Land Rover Discovery / Discovery Sport

  • Some Jaguar versions (such as the F-Pace, E-Pace or I-Pace equipped with compatible LED headlights)

Technical note: When replacing the control unit with a new or used part, software coding/programming via diagnostics (e.g. Pathfinder/TOPIx) is often required on JLR group vehicles to ensure it is correctly recognised by the vehicle's CAN network and avoid errors on the instrument cluster.
